Motorola is set to launch the Moto G Turbo Edition in India later this week. The company has begun teasing what appears to be a Wednesday launch of the smartphone on its India Twitter handle.
Motorola India on Monday tweeted, "Power up and get ready for #TurboMode! 3 Days to go for Moto G Turbo edition. Coming soon!". Over the weekend, the company has been dropping other hints as well: Stay Restless (unchain and step outside fearlessly), Dance in the Rain (leave the worrying to us. We've got your back), Live the Moments (we'll make sure you relive them forever), and Explore the World (time will never be an excuse again). The company began teasing the launch from Saturday, and with a tweet on Sunday pointed to a three-day launch time-frame - suggesting a Wednesday launch rather than a Thursday launch hinted at by Monday's tweet.
The Lenovo-owned company unveiled the Moto G Turbo Edition in Mexico last month. Borrowing enhanced ruggedness from the Turbo brand, the handset was reported to sport IP67 certification, and also withstand being submerged in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes.
As for the specifications, the Moto G Turbo Edition sports a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixel) display, up from the HD display in the Moto G (Gen 3) with Gorilla Glass 3 coating. It is powered by a Snapdragon 615 SoC and 2GB of RAM (up from the Snapdragon 410 SoC and 1GB RAM in Moto G Gen 3).
Other features of the handset include a 16GB internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card, a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2470mAh battery that supports Motorola Turbo Power quick charging.
On the software front, the handset runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. The handset was launched at a price point of $283 (roughly Rs. 18,600).
